The Canarian island of Lanzarote is located in the Atlantic just next to Africa and has been an oasis of warmth for the many people wanting to escape the unprecedented spell of cold that swept through Northern Europe in recent months. As here the daytime temperatures at the beginning of the year are well above those of northern Europe, and 23-25 degrees is not uncommon.

This wonderful weather is definitely one of the major draws for visitors, along with a varied selection of holiday rental properties. With loads of Lanzarote villas and apartments available for tourists to book. The outstanding landscapes and all year round weather also make the island an ideal location for purchasing a holiday home. Attracting a variety of investors trying to find solid returns or alternatively a sunshine holiday home.

Whether you need a holiday break or a reasonably safe and secure sanctuary for your savings the island has a wonderful assortment of resorts, such as Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen. As well as a wide variety of holiday hotels and loads of points of interest. Given the sheer diversity of what is on offer hiring a car or a mini bus if you are in a group is definitely the easiest way to get round the island. But if this is not for you then there are loads of guided tours covering the key attractions such as the Timanfaya National Park and the many creations of Cesar Monique. Visitors can book these at the reception desks of their Lanzarote hotels or direct online.

Anyone seeking a more active break will also love Lanzarote, as the weather makes it possible to pursue an outdoor lifestyle whatever the time of the year. And there´s scope for indulging in a wide variety of sports from cycling through to surfing. As a result lots of athletes choose to over winter here, enabling them to train through the toughest months of the year.

One of the greatest things about Lanzarote is the clarity of light during the winter months. Which is in part due to the lack of industrialisation on the island and also its location. As well as day photography, night photography is also un-miss able as the Canary Islands are regarded world wide as one of the top locations for astronomy, so you can image the sort of shots you could come away with.

Making your way to the island of Lanzarote today is comparatively easy, and the flight duration is just four hours or so. Prices have fallen a lot over the last year and flights to Lanzarote now start from about €100. This is probably down to the overwhelming competition between the main players servicing this area.

Lanzarote is the popular holiday island located in the Canaries chain, just off the coast of Morocco on the west coast of Africa. And attracts millions of tourists every year with its glorious golden beaches, year round great weather and variety of fascinating attractions.

The island was conquered by Spain in the early 15th century and became a bit of a magnet for pirates and privateers such as Drake and Raleigh. Who attacked Spanish galleons docking here laden with Inca silver and gold in a bid to disrupt the growth of the Spanish empire.

Today British visitors tend to arrive by plane instead – all of which land at the only airport on the island which is named after the capital city of Arrecife which lies about 3km away. From here visitors are transferred to their accommodation in the islands three main holiday resorts, Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise.

Where are the best places to stay? There are hundreds of hotels and thousands of villas in Lanzarote. With something available to suit all tastes and budgets. Apartments in Lanzarote also offer excellent value for money with a week’s rental on a typical complex starting from as little as €180 for seven nights.

Puerto del Carmen is the largest of the three resorts and attracts the bulk of visitors. It is home to a number of very good quality golden sand beaches as well as great nightlife. The resort evolved around the Old Town harbour which still lies at its heart. But these days you are more likely find pleasure craft and excursion vessels there than fishing boats. Although it´s still a great place to head for if you fancy a fish supper as there are a number of good quality restaurants here.

Villas in Puerto del Carmen are very popular as a result, with the best properties located in areas such as Los Mojones and Risco Prieto. Both of which manage to retain a very villagey feel despite the fact that they are located just a few minutes from the heart of the resort.

It´s certainly a great time to visit Puerto del Carmen it has just enjoyed a 16 million euro cash injection. As the local tourist body bring it up to date in order to maintain it´s edge against newer destinations coming onto the market, such as Egypt and Dubai. With improvements to the Old Town harbour and main strip along the Avenida de las Playas planned.

Where to stay in the first-class capital of New South Wales is a perennial thorn in the side of visitors Down Under. Sydney after all, has a reputation as not only the most expensive city in Australia but one of the most expensive in the world. This long-held narrative about the superb metropolis however, is not altogether applicable for tourists.

This, needless to say, is very good news for potential visitors. As a result, one can dismiss the usual tales and scare tactics about Sydney’s potential high costs, and simply enjoy. Sure, swish boutique hotels, restaurants and clubs can stretch budgets thin but in this regard, Sydney is no different from any other big city, from Tokyo to Moscow, London to Toronto.

It always helps to be resourceful and thankfully, a little research will yield phenomenal results in Sydney. The trick is to look beyond the Central Business District and heart of the City and into the metro area’s inner-city suburbs and frankly, outer-city suburbs. With a terrific and extensive public transport network, all the big-name attractions are easily accessible, from Sydney Opera House to Taronga Zoo, Sydney Fish Market to Sydney Aquarium.

The (relatively) quiet coastal suburbs that line the Northern Beaches, for one, contain myriad accommodations for every budget. Close to a quarter million people live here after all and from Palm Beach to Manly, the area is full of charm, gorgeous scenery and perhaps best of all, painless transport alternatives into Sydney.

For Sydney motels a little closer to the Harbour Bridge, look to attractive inner-city enclaves like Kings Cross, Glebe and Haymarket. These superlative areas offer exquisite nightlife, restaurants, parks, markets and real neighbourhood charm. Light rail, train and bus access into the heart of Sydney of course, is a simple affair.

Another Sydney region budget-conscious tourists may want to explore is the Eastern Suburbs. Bondi Beach will certainly be familiar to most but other (somewhat more affordable) ocean-side areas like Bronte, Coogee and Marouba could proffer the ideal kind of hotel, motel or hostel.

So while Woolloomooloo, Pyrmont and the CBD could well deliver the Sydney hotel of your dreams, it never hurts to look beyond the obvious and strike a good balance between budget and common sense concerns. With that in mind, Sydney can be a brilliant destination for everyone.

Brooklyn, New York contains quite a few world-famous neighborhoods that became iconic stand-ins for the borough like a result of television and movies. Two such “nabes” are Dyker Heights and Bay Ridge. Dyker Heights is most renowned nowadays for its annual display of Christmas lights and decorations, erected by residents on their own initiative.

A community tradition that spontaneously began sometime within the 1980s, the practice continues without having any type of organization whatsoever to this day. Stories in the press and other media came to generate even far more participants, and now, more than three decades later, Christmas displays is what Dyker Heights is best recognized for around the globe.

It was originally conceived like a premier suburb for New York’s middle and upper middle-classes, and still remains one from the city’s toniest enclaves, with bucolic streets and well-kept properties. No longer predominantly Italian-American, it has also turn out to be house to numerous Asians, specifically the Chinese. Similar demographic trends have reshaped Bay Ridge, which, in addition to Chinese people, can count a sizeable Middle Eastern presence, with a tiny but active Muslim religious community.

Also usually quiet, though not as bucolic with less trees, Bay Ridge can occasionally consist of the nearby community of Fort Hamilton, which may be the location of the few cultural attractions you will discover in an otherwise residential bedroom community. The area abounds in parks, even so, and is really a short distance away from those in adjacent neighborhoods like Bath Beach and Bensonhurst. Indeed, the views more than the Verrazano Narrows are majestic, and Bay Ridge had also once served being a rich man’s summer retreat.

For an idea of Old Brooklyn, as lived by generations of ordinary men and women, a visit to Bay Ridge is in order. There is really a charm about the place which is challenging to describe and effortless to get sentimental above, but it’s a feeling that defines what it means to be from Brooklyn.

Margate, Kent is a seaside village in the Eastern part of Kent in England. It is situated just over 60km northeast of the town of Maidstone. The history of Margate is intertwined with the sea. It used to be a ‘limb’ of Dover in the historical alliance of the Cinque Ports.

All the amenities of this seaside resort in the East of Kent, with its lovely beaches and many entertainment options, were originally developed as a holiday area for Londoners. The town has excellent facilities, including two theatres, more than one cinema, a golf course, fishing opportunities and as mentioned, great beaches.

The town plays host to two excellent museums. Margate Museum (the old town hall) near the old market place, houses displays portraying the history of the town. The Powell Cotton Museum, to be found in Quex Park, has numerous displays of items that were brought back from his many trips to Asia and Africa by this intrepid explorer.

At the time of going to press, the old Dreamland Amusement Park was closed for renovations, but it could be open again by now. It’s home to one of the oldest roller coaster in the United Kingdom.

The Scenic Railway, the second oldest in the world, was badly damaged in a fire during 2008. Plans are to incorporate the railway with Dreamland Park mentioned above, offering trips to tourists.

The Shell Grotto, with both walls and roof decorated in elaborate fashion by more than four million shells arranged in complex patterns covers about 200 square meters. It was rediscovered during the 1930s, but the original age and origin is unknown.

In the Old Town area at the back of the promenade, you’ll find a lovely old 16th century two storey timber framed Tudor house that was originally built on a flint base. It’s in quite a good condition and well worth a visit.

On the Margate seafront you will find a lovely old clock tower that was erected in honor of Queen Victoria in the year of 1897. The harbor building itself, built in 1810 by John Rennie, is in quite a good state of repair. Some of the other buildings along the promenade are not in the same state of repair, although there are still fine examples of Victorian seaside resort buildings to enjoy.

The quite fascinating Old Town lies at the back of the promenade and although not visited by many day trippers, it actually has a lot to offer. There are well preserved examples of Georgian and Victorian buildings, some of them nearly 500 years old. It’s a lovely spot to just stroll around for a couple of hours.

When it comes to accommodation options, Margate – Kent has more than enough to satisfy the needs of every visitor. There are cozy little bed-and-breakfasts in Margate and also good quality hotels for those who want to enjoy the facilities that only hotels normally offer.

When you go to Peru most people’s first thoughts aren’t of trekking up the side of a mountain but this is exactly what adventurous travellers on active holidays do every year. As far as walking holidays the trail leading upto Machu Picchu is one of the most exciting treks you can do on this planet. If you love to walk or trek then the Inca Trail with Machu Picchu being the sight that greets you at the end is quite simply found nowhere else. With a road that is 500 year old you really don’t get a more historic or mysterious atmosphere when walking the Inca Trail anywhere else on the globe.

The temple that was Machu Picchu was built as a fortress as well as a place of worship. 4,000 feet up on a mountain side to build a temple is quite a tough thing to do so you can only imagine how difficult this was back in the time of the Mayan reign.

It is a 40 mile walk that never goes below 8,500 feet and for huge sections of the walk you will find yourself at 11,000 feet or above so do not be fooled into thinking this will be easy. Be warned that if you think you might suffer from altitude sickness then this walk is probably not a good idea because there is no medical help to be had. This has got to be one of the most ideal ways to experience a country with so much beauty as Peru.

As mentioned before take care of yourself and if you start to feel dizzy sit down as there is no one medically trained to help you on the trail. Make sure you arrange a guide before you climb the mountain beacuse it is now compulsory otherwise you will find yourself sitting around without being allowed on the mountainside.

Peru holidays are something really different and if you don’t feel a multi day trek is within you capabilities then you can always take the train from Cusco.

Set amongst the wooded hills and overlooking sandy beaches, the town of Monchique is an ideal place from which to explore the Algarve . Close to Albufeira, the Aqualand Water Park is a great place to cool off and promises a fun-filled day out for the whole family.

Take a jeep or bicycle tours of the area, or hire a boat for the day to explore the many coves and rocky coastlines.

If keen to see some of the Algarve’s cultural attractions, consider taking a trip inland to visit some of the region’s historic cities with their winding streets.

When to go

The summer months of June, July and August are the most popular time to visit. However, the wildflowers are especially lovely during the spring, plus you’ll find the Algarve hotels tend to be far less crowded.

With its shimmering sandy beaches, historic picture-postcard towns and superb championship golf courses, Algarve has something for everyone.

Florida is one of the top places to visit across the United States, if not the number one holiday hot spot. Orlando is in Florida, and holds the worlds biggest Amusement parks, attracting many tourists. Florida receives more visitors a year than the whole of the United Kingdom and with so many attractions there is no wonder why. Disney world is the largest theme park in the world, but is not the only one in Florida. Universal Studios and Disney World are the two biggest here, with at least four more large ones as well!

What else is there in a smaller market that brings people to Florida. There is a lot to see in Florida, but did you know that it is also home to a place where wine is made from Oranges. Fruits contain sugar, which means that they can be fermented, which is how you make alcohol.

The Spanish came over to America, and when they did they needed to the ability to grow wine away from Spain. Grapes were the universal way to produce wine and are still the most commonly used fruit in the world. Even thought the atmosphere and the climate were perfect for growing the grapes, the soil was uninhabitable for them. This soil just didn’t have the minerals and vitamins that the Grape needed to survive. Although relatively strong fruits, they couldn’t survive here. Using the grapes was no longer a possibility, and another fruit was needed in order to create the wine, something tougher.

The easiest and clearest option that they took was the Orange, a sturdy fruit that could be easily maintained. They can survive on a lot less than the grape can, and also have high sugar levels. There are orange grove wineries in Florida and are great for you to visit on your Florida holidays. USA holidays haven’t exactly blossomed because of the Orange wines, but they should be visited, maybe even if you are on a Fly Drive USA tour!

There are over 200 hotels in Lanzarote for holidaymakers to select from. With six 5 star establishments amidst their ranks, all offering high levels of luxury and service.

The Arrecife Gran Hotel stands head and shoulders above the rest – quite literally. As it is housed in the only high rise building on the island. Which was originally constructed in contravention of local planning laws during the 1980´s. And which then lay idle for years as the local government wrestled with what to do with the edifice.

For a while it became a real eye sore as the structure was burned out by arsonists and then surrounded with ugly corrugated iron sheeting. A real shame given its great location right next to the beach at Playa El Reducto which lies in the heart of Lanzarote´s capital city. But pragmatism finally won through and a few years ago the island government decided that it would be better to utilise the building than demolish it. Granting permission for the creation of the Arrecife Gran, which gives guests great views across the island from its seventeen floors.

Despite this heritage though the best known hotel on the island is still the Gran Melia Salinas, which is located in the resort of Costa Teguise – a ten minute drive from Arrecife – and which was developed with the help of the famous local artist César Manrique. His objective was to create an upmarket resort using the Gran Melia as the anchor for the development. And the resulting creation contained a number of trademark flourishes which haven been copied by many other hotels since. Such as the lush internal garden which occupies the hotel’s central atrium.

Today some visitors have suggested that the Gran Melia´s glory has faded somewhat. But there is still plenty to recommend it and the recently opened Salinas Villas extensions also gives guests access to some of the best holiday villas in Lanzarote.

Playa Blanca in the south of the island is home to a huge range of four star hotels – as well as the Gran Melia Volcan. Which has been modelled after Lanzarote´s most famous tourist attraction, the volcanoes of the Timanfaya National Park. The hotel is located right next to the luxury Rubicon Marina and offers high standards of accommodation. With five main blocks, each of which is named after one of Lanzarote´s best known villages. Making this one of the best hotels in Playa Blanca by some distance.

You can get to the beach resort of Mae Phim easily from central Bangkok – it is less than two hours away. The nearby city of Pattaya attracts more tourists than Mae Phim, but the latter is more relaxed and more authentically Thai. Do not be fooled into thinking that because it is less crowded means that it has less to offer – far from it. It is rather a case of Mae Phim still being a relatively undiscovered, at least to those living outside of the country, gem on the east coast of Thailand. Affluent Thais have been visiting Mae Phim for a long time, as they have been all to aware of what it has to offer. The beaches have always been beautiful, and there is now first class accommodation and attractions to supplement them. Mae Phim offers wonderful beaches, with white sand and clear blue water. Beautiful beaches are actually pretty common in Thailand, but they are rarely as unspoiled as the ones that you will find in Mae Phim. The local tourism authority highly values it beaches and places the cleanliness of them at the top of its list of priorities. As for accommodation options, you will not be disappointed. From simple guest-houses to luxurious hotels, there is something for everyone in Mae Phim. You might want to consider a vacation rental home. These properties are fully furnished homes that are fitted out with all the mod-cons that you could want. Several bedrooms, private swimming pools and landscaped gardens are all commonplace. On arrival, and having unpacked your bags, you should take a stroll around the town center. It is charming and authentic, and has everything that you could want. It has completely modern amenities, but they sit alongside the traditional Thai aspects of the town, rather than dominating them.

Wakefield, West Yorkshire is a busy English city. It was a popular market town in the early middle ages, famous for its great meats and veggies. It then became well known for its inspiring natural beauty and wool. Now nearly seventy thousand people call it home and hundreds of tourists travel to visit it every year.

Wakefield was found to have been a thriving society even in early prehistoric era. Thousands and thousands of years ago, the vikings controlled this area. In late medieval times, the location became a well known and bustling trade village. Wakefield has endured a number of fights, wars, and illnesses to become the beloved city it is currently.

The city is also very well known for its landmarks and landscapes. It’s home to Wakefield Cathedral, the tallest church in the area as well as Yorkshire itself. The area also boasts several ancient and beautiful landmarks like medieval bridges and churches. Hundreds of tourists make treks each year to survey its many attractions.

The city’s Theatre Royal and Opera House will be a welcome sight for art lovers. The exquisite building has been operating since the 1800s and is still going strong. In its early years Wakefield was known for growing and harvesting rhubarb, every year the city still hosts a rhubarb festival. The region, in fact, hosts a number of small festivals each year. And encompassing the area, there are a number of one in a million parks and forests.

The area is also famous for its national English rugby league which is a part of Britain’s Super League. The city is also host to a hundred acre water sports center. It has every sport from surfing and kayaking to water volleyball and sailing. And though they do not play anymore, the city was once home to a decorated football team too.

Wakefield Prison is situated within the city limits. Constructed in the 1500s, it first was used as a corrective facility. In the mid 1800s, a well known nursery rhyme was first sung there by the prison’s women inmates. Currently the building is a maximum security prison and holds England’s most dangerous criminals.

Wakefield may not be England’s most famous city. It may not even be Yorkshire’s most famous city. But the area has a lot of heart. The city has a rich and wondrous cultural history. It is also chock full of decade old landmarks and buildings. Wakefield houses an impressive sports complex and a world famous prison as well. And like most small towns, its beauty is best appreciated in person.

If you are looking for somewhere to take a break with a variety of things to offer then you could check out the accommodation in Sedbergh, Cumbria. The town is working to become Englands book town but also offers interesting history, cultural activities, sports and outdoor adventure and great hiking. It also presents a year round program of events.

Sedbergh grew because of its location at the crossroads of old trade routes. It sits at a point where four valleys and their rivers converge on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Lake District is around ten miles away and so from the town you can explore some rugged and beautiful countryside. This makes the area a paradise for walkers who can even take a quick trip to nearby Kendal for some mint cake.

If you do not have transport then there are lots of hikes and walks from the town and around the streets. The tourist information center is a great resource for walkers with maps and information cards detailing local routes which can be purchased. There are several routes in the town which take in historic buildings such as the restored Norman church and old weaving mills. They also include a number of riverside walks. If you want a more challenging hike then just head into the Howgill Fells. The nearest hill is less than an hour away by foot and gives great views of the countryside right over to the Lake District.

The efforts of the local residents in making Sedbergh a cultural town have certainly paid off. There are many activities for the visitor to take part in. The range of bookshops in the town is amazing considering its size. The book enthusiast will not be disappointed by a visit to Sedbergh. Every August the Festival of Books and Drama is held.

Books and literature are not the only cultural assets to be found. There are local classes and societies for history, singing, embroidery, weaving and cooking. A comprehensive program of events takes place all year long. There is a heritage arts center in a converted mill building. This hosts up to twenty crafts people and artists at any time and visitors can see exhibitions of work, watch the artists as they work and buy their products.

If you want to take part in some sporting activities there are a number of options. The local golf course is renowned for being challenging yet very beautiful. Killington Lake has canoeing, sailing and windsurfing. The local rivers are great places for fishing. There are also plenty of horse riding and cycling routes.

Sedbergh, Cumbria is a picturesque town set in beautiful countryside. There are many cultural and sporting activities and a year round program of events to keep the visitor happy.

With a diverse, breathtaking, climate, Hawaii enjoys nearly perfect weather throughout the year. Most of the year, the coasts have relaxing daily temperatures between the mid-70s and mid-80s. Of all the states in America, Hawaii is the only one with no sub-zero temperature in recorded history.

Since Hawaii has only 2 seasons—Summer (May through October) and Winter (November through April), you will experience more heat and humidity variation from elevations and windward-leeward coasts, than you will due to the seasons. If you’re curious what the weather is like right now, check out the 10 Day Weather Forecast Hawaii.

Hawaii’s Beneficial Geography

The inhabited Hawaiian Islands are only twelve- to sixteen-hundred miles north of the equator and are between 19 and 23 degrees north latitude. Since Hawaii is so near to the equator, the sun is high in the sky all year round, which heats the Hawaiian Islands and the ocean around them..

The warm ocean temperatures help to keep Hawaii’s atmosphere at ease. Yet 2 other factors add to Hawaii’s reputation as a tropical paradise with diverse microclimates: Hawaii’s trade winds, and Hawaii’s several volcanic mountains.

Hawaiian Volcanoes

Millions of years ago, volcanic eruptions from the Pacific Ocean floor formed the mountains of Hawaii. The resulting diverse ranges of height are a major source of the diversity of weather on the Hawaiian Islands.

When moist, warm air meets mountain slopes along breezy coasts, the air is forced to ascend, expand and chill (this is known as orographic lift). This forms heavy clouds and causes precipitation along the windy slopes. When this air reaches the leeward slopes, it moves down, condenses, and warms, making leeward coasts generally sunnier, warmer and drier.

Hawaii Trade Winds

Trade winds coming from northeast of Hawaii average 12 mph. These winds occur around ninety percent of the time in the summer and around 50 percent of the time in the winter. They keep humidity at a low level and ensure comfortable temperatures, especially on the northeastern coast of Hawaii.

These cooling winds are created since warm air rises near the equator, flows northward through the upper atmosphere, then cools. Becoming heavier as it cools, it plunges back to the earth’s surface at about 30 degrees latitude, where it flows toward the equator to replace more rising, warm air. This creates cool northeasterly breezes moving along the ocean’s surface, and over the Hawaiian Islands.

Climate and Weather of Oahu

Oahu, like the other Hawaiian Islands’ tropical climate, is subject to variations of elevation and geographic location more than the seasons. Its rain-bearing trade winds are blocked by Oahu’s two parallel mountain ranges – Ko‘olau (reaching 3,105 feet), and Wai‘anae (reaching 4,020 feet).

Thus Honolulu, Waikiki, and Ko Olina on the southern and western sides of the island are dry and warm. Conversely, Kailua and Aeia on the windward side, and The North Shore, near Haleiwa (a popular surf town), are cooler and wetter.

The winter season usually brings very rough conditions to the north shore’s world-famous surfing beaches, ideal for big wave competitions, but hazardous for novice surfers and swimmers. Check out the current Oahu 2 week Weather Forecast.

Climate and Weather of Maui

With 2 volcanic mountains separated by a central valley, Maui offers a very diverse climate despite its size. You’ll come across everything from a lunar-like desert on top of Mt. Haleakala, 10,320 feet high, to flourishing tropical wildlife toward the Hana coast. Wild ginger, bamboo, eucalyptus and pines are just a few examples of Maui’s beautiful plant life. In 1982, Pu‘u Kukui, the summit of the West Maui Mountains, had 739 inches of rainfall, which is the U.S. rainfall record. Have a look at some of the variations in Maui’s climate ccoming up: Hawaii Weather Forecast Maui.

Paia and Haiku, located near Maui’s north shore, are world-class kite boarding and windsurfing destinations, and they have delightful trade winds and beach access. Many great resort areas, such as Makena, Wailea, Kihei, Lahaina, Kaanapali and Kapalua, experience the island’s year-round sunshine, dry weather and fantastic beaches as they are along the southwest shore.

Climate and Weather of Big Island

On the Big Island, there are 5 shield volcanoes, contributing to the most diverse climate in Hawaii. The Big Island also contains ten of ten of the world’s 15 climate zones. Hilo, on the windward side, is the wettest city in the U.S., averaging more than 130 inches of rain per year.

The leeward coast is usually sunny and warm, averaging as little as 5 inches yearly. Kailua, Kona, and Kohala include resort areas on these dry coasts. .

Climate and Weather of Kauai

The small, circular island of Kauai is formed by one eroded volcano, whose highest peak reaches 5,243 feet at Mount Wai‘ale‘ale near its center. With more than 460 inches of rain per year, this peak is thought of as the wettest place on the planet. Just 20 miles southwest of the extremely wet mountain is the Kekaha coastal area, which averages less than 20 inches of rain per year.

With their lush tropical surroundings on the north shore, Na Pali Coast, Princeville, and tranquil Hanalei provide incomparable opportunities for nature adventures. Poipu and Koloa on the drier, warmer south shore are the primary resort areas of Kauai.

Whale Shark season is from mid May to mid September off the Coast of Holbox Island near Cancun Mexico. The largest fish in the world, the Whale Shark reaches lengths of greater than 40 feet (13 meters) as well as a weight in surplus of 21 tons. Whale Sharks return to the waters in the environs of Holbox year after year due to the rare natural environment and timing of available food which takes place each spring and continues through the majority of the summer season.

The usual Whale Shark swimming encounter necessitates simply a snorkel, fins and mask though most tour operators also require and make available a life vest. Following a briefing on suggestions and safety, you will take an early morning boat ride from Holbox Island to the feeding areas of the Whale Sharks where they lazily graze on plankton close to the surface. You are then escorted in small groups or pairs with your biologist tour guide into the water where you swim along side one of natures oldest and largest creatures, it really is a Jurassic experience!

The calm and measured swimming pace of the Whale Shark makes contact to these remarkable fish comfortable for most citizens, kids as young as 5 years of age and as old as 90 have swam with the Whale Sharks. The open interaction with these astounding creatures is a once in a lifetime experience. Getting to the sharks is an experience in itself with schools of dolphin regular and a variety of tropical birds including; Flamingos, Pelicans, Cranes and a wealth of others local to the area.

If you are interested in this incredible encounter, there are a number of wonderful holbox hotels ranging from luxury boutique hotels to cabanas on the beach. Isla Holbox is a welcoming fishing village hosting a population of around 1500 permanent residents, mostly fishermen, hoteliers and trip operators. You will find incredible holbox travel deals regardless of what hotel you choose.

Looking for a holiday destination where the sun never stops shining? Then head for Puerto del Carmen on the Canary Island of Lanzarote. Where temperatures average out at 22 degrees Celsius all year round and rainfall is a rarity.

The Canaries are close to Africa, which explains why they enjoy such good weather. And Lanzarote is the third most popular of these island with tourists guests after Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Attracting millions of visitors every year.

Puerto del Carmen is the jewel in the crown of the island’s tourist industry and is located handily close to the only airport on the island at Arrecife. With transfers from the airport taking just ten minutes. Making it nice and easy for holidaymakers to get to their accommodation.

There are hundreds of villas in Puerto del Carmen available for rental. Most of these have their own private pools and gardens and a minimum of two bedrooms. Along with other home from home comforts such as high speed internet connections and satellite TV systems. Like all of the properties on the island they are painted a uniform white colour and often have thick walls in order to keep the heat out. As well as outdoor BBQ´s so guests can enjoy dining under the stars or by the pool.

For tourists looking to spend less money there are plenty of holiday apartments in Puerto del Carmen too. These are usually located on complexes and therefore have lots of good communal amenities such as big shared swimming pools and manned reception desks. As well as on site bars, shops and restaurants.

One of the best ways to get to know the resort is to take a stroll along the 6km long seafront on the Avenida de las Playas. This has just enjoyed a recent renovation and there are now many more trees and palms planted here as well as dedicated cycle lanes. Making this a much safer and more pleasant environment for visitors to enjoy.

The promenade also runs parallel with the resorts excellent beaches one of which, Playa Chica, was recently awarded Blue Flag status, reflecting its cleanliness and safety. The main beach is called Playa Grande and tourists will find plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for hire here so they can relax and enjoy the beach in comfort. For those who don’t like to cook whilst on holiday there are hundreds of places to eat in Puerto del Carmen, with some of the best found in the Old Town harbour area.

If you have ever wanted to visit Wales then why not treat yourself to a luxury visit in a stunning setting? Barmouth in Gwynedd is one of the most stunning areas of Northern Wales. The Welsh Seaside Resort of Barmouth offers a great deal to visitors. With mountains stretching far and wide, there are some amazing, breathtaking views.

There are so many things to see and do in this beautiful area including: Harlech Castle and steam trains. If you are interested in history this area has a history that goes back a long way. As well as historic sites this area is also great for those that love walking. There are many miles of woodland area that can be explored on foot. There are some excellent walks, including the Panorama walk.

The Mawddach Valley is in the south west corner of Snowdonia National Park. Whilst you are in Barmouth it is worth checking out the Old Town. The Old Town has beautiful cottages with slate roof’s and is fantastic to walk around. You might also like to see the harbour that many people visit just so they can walk over the attractive Barmouth Bridge. The Barmouth Bridge stretches over the river, making the ideal setting for an evening walk.

If you love playing golf then you should take a trip to the Bala Golf course in the Snowdonia National Park. There is also a large beach which is perfect for sunbathing in the summer sun. Families usually take their children to the beach, but if you want somewhere quieter then you could try walking to a different part of the beach. The beauty of the beach is that it is so large that you can find a quieter part without much problem.

Barmouth is a place of great contrast that attracts visitors of all ages. It is the perfect place to enjoy the mountains, beach, harbour and sea. There is a funfair starting in March and ending in October. As you can imagine that attracts many families but, also younger people to the area.

Barmouth is perfect for those who enjoy walking, sailing or who simply want to relax in the summer sun. The Three Peaks Race starts annually from Barmouth to Fort William. It is a very difficult race that involves sailing from Wales via England; a total mileage of approximately 389 miles. It is worth watching if you are in the area at the same time as the race.

The Fairbourne and Barmouth Railway track is also situated in Barmouth. The railway track was first laid in 1895 by a man names Mr Arthur McDougall of ‘McDougall’s Flour’ fame. It was constructed so that building materials could be transported for the building of Fairbourne village. All in all Barmouth is a wonderful place to visit and take the family or your pet dog!

Westbury is a town in West Wiltshire, about 18 miles south east of Bath that centres around its historic market. It has also been known as Westbury-under-the-Plain because it lies under the north-western hills of Salisbury Plain.

The town is of note for its church. Built in the 14th century, All Saints’ Church has the third heaviest ring of bells in the entire world. It also holds a 16th century clock, built by a local blacksmith, and an Erasmus bible.

The most famous feature in Westbury is the White Horse which may date back as far as 878AD although there is no hard evidence yet to suggest that it is any older than 1720. It is however, the oldest and largest of the Wiltshire horses.

The horse is cut into the Westbury hills below Bratton Camp hill fort. It can be seen from the viewpoint on the B3098. You can get up to the horse itself but the paths are steep and not very wide either. If you do decide to take the walk up, you will be rewarded with fantastic views over the countryside below.

The current horse is a different design from the original. In 1778, G. Gee had the image re-cut in the chalk to create a better likeness to a real horse. In 1873, that horse was in need or restoration because of erosion and it is the shape that was created during this period that can be seen today.

Although the original horse had a chalk surface, these days the horse has a concrete one that has been painted white. This is because maintenance costs were high and concrete is easier to look after.

The town is perfect for cyclists and walkers as the chalk downland is lovely. Wild flowers brighten up the hills in the summer and hang-gliders can be seen regularly taking advantage of the thermals.

Westbury is well situated for access to Bath, Salisbury and Bristol with a direct train service to these cities. It is a great countryside stop off if you are heading on to these destinations.

For Westbury Wiltshire, head to West Wilts.

Getting a look at the city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England is pleasant for what it reveals about this small city that lies close to Cambridge and the University of Cambridge itself. Boasting of a population of about 15,000 people, Ely is the third-smallest of all cities in the country, as a matter of fact.

The history of the city can be traced back to the sixth century, when a local Catholic order of monks founded an abbey in the area. Ely itself is famous in the country for having held out the longest against the imposition of Norman rule, doing so until it was finally conquered in 1071. The name of the city most likely comes from the number of eels swimming about in the waters near the city.

The Lord Protector of all England, Oliver Cromwell, once worked as a local tax collector in Ely for several years. His 15th century-era home still stands and it now serves as a museum and local tourist office. Cromwell himself helped to bring about the republican form of Commonwealth, a system which still exists to this day, to one extent or another.

The town also plays host to the famous Ely Cathedral. Building on it first started in 1083, at the direction of William I. It continued to be built for years, with some sections erected as late as the early 14th century. The cathedral itself is considered to be one of the most impressive structures to emerge from the medieval era.

Cromwell also had a hand in a locally-important charity, which was recognized by King Charles I when he granted it a charter to operate in the 16th century. Copies of that charter, along with other documents and meeting minutes signed by Cromwell, are on display at the Ely Museum. Cromwell was once a governor of this charity, which still serves the public at large these days.

Today, Ely has more than a few structures, buildings and other remnants existing from that era, as well as being able to boast that many of its streets and paths are still laid out as they were originally put down throughout its history. The city also conducts a large biweekly market, and the local river also attracts a great many people interested in water recreation activities.

Cambridgeshire, the county in which Ely resides, is ceremonial and non-metropolitan by classification. In addition to being known for its host role for the University of Cambridge, it’s also host to a great many high-tech business firms. In fact, the region is often referred to as “Silicon Fen, ” to reflect that fact. It has a current population of 780,000 people and there have been people in the area since neolithic times.
